Yoga Sadhana Retreat

The Practitioner’s Journey to Yoga

Cultivate well-being, balance, and peace in our Sadhana Program – a yoga retreat on the paradise island of Koh Phangan. Spend one to three weeks immersed in yoga, deepen your personal practice, and reconnect to yourself.

“Yoga is a spiritual practice and the goal of this practice is Yoga most commonly translated as Union. To overcome that which is causing the separation one needs to have continuous practice which requires discipline. For this very reason, One Yoga has created the Sadhana program, a program for sincere practitioners in search of a place to support this process. When one practices continuously with the right understanding, the right effort, and the necessary discipline one is known as a Sadhaka. When the Sadhaka keeps the process going continuously it creates momentum, and the energy from this momentum has a snowball effect pathing the way to the goal of Yoga.” – Daniel Mark Taylor, Co-founder of One Yoga

The Purpose of Daily Spiritual Practice

Sadhana, the daily spiritual practice, is the pillar of yoga. Sadhana is anything that is practiced with awareness, discipline, and the intention of spiritual growth.

Our Sadhana Program provides you with a wide variety of tools for this purpose, ranging from physical practices like asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) to more introspective methods, such as meditation, as well as the supported theory in the daily philosophy classes.

What is Sadhana and why should you have one?

Simply put, Sadhana (Sanskrit: साधन) is a Sanskrit term used to refer to a regular spiritual practice. Sadhana is about being a better person and living a happy, meaningful, wholesome life through the cultivation of awareness. A consistent Sadhana practice is generally supported such as asana, pranayama, and meditation. When you routinely apply mind, body, and spirit combined with the intention of spiritual growth, the result is a simple, natural way to surrender the ego, release attachment, and cultivate a sense of peace in your everyday life.

In essence, Sadhana is the cornerstone of the discipline of yoga. Having a sincere and consistent practice of sadhana will nurture all aspects of your life. When formulating your own Sadhana, it is important to choose practices that work for you, a frequency and duration that you can easily integrate back into your everyday life. Sadhana means you are using everything as a tool for your well-being. This is what One Yoga’s Sadhana program is all about.

The Space to Go Deep

Discipline is one of the most important aspects of Sadhana. Without regular practice, we cannot reach our spiritual goals. But finding the right space to go deep into yoga can be difficult due to the hectic modern lifestyle.

Deepen Your Practice in Paradise

Join us for a transformative Meditation Retreat on the paradise island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. Whether you are new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, our program is designed to help you cultivate a deep sense of inner peace and presence.

“Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Guided by experienced teachers, you will enjoy three 45- to 60-minute meditation sessions per day, along with one Hatha Yoga class to help open your body, release tension, and increase energy flow. In addition, you are welcome to continue your own practice aside from the guided classes.

As you immerse yourself in this dedicated approach to meditation, you will experience the benefits of mindfulness in all areas of your life. With consistent practice, you can liberate your mind from false perceptions and beliefs, and experience the present moment in its fullness.

Why Should I Meditate?

Meditation is the practice of looking deeply into the nature of reality. It allows you to concentrate on the internal world, while surrounded by external distractions. By meditating regularly, you can free yourself from false perceptions and beliefs. In short, daily meditation liberates the mind, allowing you to experience the present moment in its entirety.

As babies, we experience sensory input as one holistic field of somatic awareness. Our five senses – sight, sound, touch, taste and smell – haven’t yet been categorized into separate mental compartments and as a result, we are effortlessly open, innocent, and happy. This integrated sensory awareness continues to remain the real ground of our experience. However, through the acquired habit of labeling and judging different aspects of experience, we cut ourselves off from its grace.

In our daily meditation sessions, pointers are given to direct your awareness into open, embodied, immediate sensory presence (with eyes closed, but aware of the blank screen of your vision). As your awareness opens into holistic sensory experience, you discover its essential formlessness. Your mind remembers how to remain present without labeling and judging and you effortlessly access the grace of your being.

Here are some of the countless benefits of meditation you may experience during the retreat:

✔︎ Reduced Stress: Numerous studies have shown that regular meditation practice can lower the levels of stress hormones in the body, reducing stress-related conditions like anxiety, depression, and high blood pressure.

✔︎ Emotional Wellbeing: Meditation promotes feelings of relaxation, happiness, and inner peace that transcend our external circumstances. By connecting with our inner selves, we can experience inner fulfillment that cannot be found through external means.

✔︎ Deeper Connections: Through regular meditation practice, we cultivate loving kindness, feel greater compassion and empathy towards ourselves and others, and realize our interconnectedness with all beings.

✔︎ Liberation from Suffering: By transcending our ego-based thoughts and desires, we can free ourselves from the suffering that arises from attachment and aversion. Meditation helps us cultivate a state of equanimity and detachment, allowing us to experience contentment regardless of our external circumstances.

✔︎ Self-Realization: Meditation helps us realize our true nature beyond the limitations of the physical body and mind. By stilling the fluctuations of the mind, we experience a state of oneness, inner peace, and spiritual realization.
